Dave
My personal story
Dave grew up as a MK (missionary kid) in Papua New Guinea. After college he met Shawn at their home church (Morningside Baptist in South Carolina) and they were married in 1994. They went to Papua New Guinea as missionaries in 2000. Dave focused on mentoring and training national church leaders.
After battling serious illness, they returned to the US, and in 2012, Dave became the Director of Open Door Baptist Missions based in Greenville, SC. Later he also became the missions pastor at Morningside Baptist Church. Dave loves reading missionary biographies and books on missiology. He completed two masters degrees and a doctorate studying missions. His passion is to help national pastors and missionaries advance the Gospel to the darkest regions.
Shawn
My personal story
Shawn grew up as a PK (pastor’s kid) in Michigan and Ohio. As a missionary she focused on discipling and training women for ministry. She also ministered to the hurting and needy through first aid and basic medical care.
She’s a regular Bible study teacher, counselor, and speaker for women. She loves encouraging young moms and helping homeschoolers. She’s passionate about history and is a published author. She loves learning, exploring, and encouraging others to become lifelong learners.
